A rich history of craftsmanship
- Our Kingston location, formerly known as C.E. Macpherson, and before that way back in 1898 as McKelvey & Birch, we’re now Conrex Kingston. That location was contracted to do deep drawing for heavy artillery during WWII. They now specialize in cold form dished heads in sizes up to 84”
- Our Toronto location was founded in 1948 as National Welding, and was initially focused on manufacturing heads for tank cars and diesel tanks.
- Our deepest roots trace as far back as the early 1800s. Lukens Steel, a legendary 200+ year old name in the steel industry (they produced the iron for the first iron-hulled vessel in the United States) purchased us in 1964 and renamed the company Canadian Lukens.
- Our name was changed to Conrex Steel Ltd in 1989 and we were purchased by Canerector in 1994.
- Since then, we continue to serve our customers with expanded capabilities that include conventional tank heads, segmental ASME tank heads, spheres, joggled heads, and large formed elbows.
- In 2021, Aberfoyle Metal Treaters became part of the Conrex group and in 2023 Prescor was acquired forming a 3 company powerhouse.

Growth and expansion
This rich history forms the foundation for excellence and innovation, and we continue to grow. We recently expanded our operations with the acquisition of Prescor in Tulsa Oklahoma, increasing our capabilities to serve customers even more. Together with Prescor and Aberfoyle Metal Treaters, specializing in heat treating, blasting, and coating, we now form The Conrex Group of Companies, offering one of the most comprehensive one-stop shop metal forming and metal finishing organizations in North America.
